How to use jobs.gov.gy and CRMA walk-in matching at 82 Brickdam

The National Job Bank is not a Facebook group with a government logo. It is the Ministry of Labour’s free matching service for all ten regions, run by the Central Recruitment and Manpower Agency (CRMA). If you only scroll WhatsApp vacancies, you are missing the board that employers are told to use when they want a public, cost-free listing.

On 1 September 2026 the homepage at jobs.gov.gy still showed 2,529 jobs, 13,880 job seekers and 880 employers. Those counters change. Treat them as a snapshot, not a promise that 2,529 roles are still open tomorrow. What they do show is that the bank is live, and that more seekers than vacancies is normal — so a complete profile and a walk-in still matter.

Job seekers: put the same résumé on GuyaneseJobs.com as well as the Job Bank. Employers: post once on both sites rather than blasting a vacancy that dies in a status update.

What the Job Bank actually is

CRMA dates from 1944. The online bank launched on 11 March 2022 as an expansion of that mandate: register people who want work, keep a record of notified vacancies, match candidates, arrange interviews, and offer career guidance. Stabroek News reported at the launch that Permanent Secretary Bishram Kuppen designed the platform so employers and seekers could connect without a paid third party. CRMA would still see people who prefer a desk, not a login.

The Ministry’s jobs-bank page lists the same functions: matching, canvassing for openings, vacancy records, counselling, and capacity-building. DPI has covered CRMA job-readiness workshops on résumés and interview ethics.

There is no fee to register, search or post. If someone messages you a “processing charge” to get on jobs.gov.gy, it is not the government.

Register as a job seeker (do this before you walk in)

  1. Open https://jobs.gov.gy/ and use Job Seeker → Register. Create the account with an email you check; alerts go there.
  2. Complete the profile. The bank filters by region (Barima-Waini through Upper Takutu–Upper Essequibo, plus Georgetown and the East Bank/East Coast splits), category, skill and company. If you leave region blank, a Berbice cashier job will compete with Georgetown office roles you cannot reach by 08:00.
  3. Upload a PDF résumé, not a WhatsApp screenshot. Include a working phone number.
  4. Turn on job alerts. Closing dates on public listings are short.
  5. Search By Location as well as category. A Georgetown call-centre post and a Berbice cashier sit on the same front page.
  6. Use View Applications. If a listing disappears, it closed or was filled.

The 1 September 2026 front page mixed transport, retail, clerking and a call-centre manager — the national labour market, not an oil microsite.

Register as an employer

  1. Use Employers → Register. The site is built for both private firms and public bodies.
  2. Post the vacancy with a real closing date, region, and whether it is full-time. Vague “oil camp — apply now” copy belongs on a scam channel, not a government bank.
  3. Use Search Resume and Applicant Tracking instead of asking candidates to WhatsApp a stranger. The 2022 launch was explicit: the bank is meant to cut out unnecessary intermediaries.

A listing on jobs.gov.gy does not replace a listing where seekers already search commercially. Put the same role on GuyaneseJobs.com.

Walk-in matching at 82 Brickdam

The online bank did not close the office. CRMA still does in-person consultations at the Ministry of Labour head office, 82 Brickdam, Georgetown, next to the Guyana Football Federation headquarters and the Palms Geriatric Home. The ministry contact number published for that office is +592 226-6115.

Go with:

  • National ID or passport
  • A printed résumé (the same PDF you uploaded)
  • Certificates you actually hold, not “pending”
  • A short list of the regions and shifts you can work
  • If you already registered online, your login or the email used

Ask them to update the Job Bank if your profile is missing. CRMA matches notified vacancies and arranges interviews; it will not invent a job because you came from Linden. If you live outside Georgetown, filter online first. A Brickdam visit helps for a workshop, a profile fix, or an employer who asked CRMA to send people in person. It does not replace applying before the closing date.

Why a Guyana registration still matters if you are browsing Trinidad or Barbados ads

CARICOM does not run one Community-wide vacancy board that replaces national public employment services. Each country keeps its own.

  • Trinidad and Tobago: the Ministry of Labour’s National Employment Service (NES) matches seekers and employers at no cost, with offices around the country and an online network at neon.labour.gov.tt. NES registration is built around Trinidad and Tobago identity documents, recommendations and a local interview. A Guyanese passport and a jobs.gov.gy login do not put you in that database.
  • Jamaica: the Electronic Labour Exchange, part of the Labour Market Information System at lmis.gov.jm, is the Ministry of Labour and Social Security’s free matching tool. It is a Jamaica labour-market instrument, including overseas programmes that Jamaica negotiates for Jamaicans.
  • Barbados: the Ministry of Labour points seekers to the Barbados Job Register at barbadosjobregister.gov.bb, formerly the online job centre, with registration and matching through the Barbados Employment and Career Counselling Service.

Those boards are useful intelligence. They are not a work permit. To take a waged job in another CSME participating state without a separate work permit, you still need a Certificate of Recognition of CARICOM Skills Qualification in one of the 13 agreed categories (as at February 2026), applied for through the competent authority — in Guyana, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation’s CSME portal. Graduates, nurses, teachers, CVQ artisans, associate-degree holders and the other listed groups are in; a WhatsApp “hotel job in Barbados next week” is not.

A Skills Certificate still leaves immigration checks, verification, and the other country’s tax and insurance rules. The job you can start this month is probably in Region Four, Six or Three. A local registration is free and does not block a later CSME move.
